MotionDSP is a combination of “Motion” and “DSP,” which stands for Digital Signal Processing. MotionDSP’s video reconstruction algorithms use the motion in video, either from object or camera motion, to enable reconstruction with better detail. Along with our patented super-resolution algorithms, our software has a wide variety of digital signal processing algorithms which all contribute to our software’s ability to extract information from forensic video.

Our Story

Founded in 2005, MotionDSP started at the University of California, using image processing technology to enhance mobile video quality. However, it quickly captured the attention of the U.S. intelligence community, leading to the development of our first forensic video software used by agencies like the U.S. Secret Service. By 2007, our partnership with NVIDIA enabled us to leverage their GPUs for real-time video enhancement - a breakthrough that revolutionized how live video feeds were processed.

From military contracts to law enforcement adoption, MotionDSP’s software has continually evolved. Today, our suite of products supports real-time image enhancement, video redaction, and geospatial processing, all built on over a decade of innovation and collaboration with key industry leaders.

A New Chapter

In 2018, MotionDSP was acquired by Cubic Corporation, expanding our capabilities and bringing our software into Cubic's Mission Solutions business. This transition has enabled us to scale our solutions for global defense and commercial clients, including the Department of Defense, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and more. Today, MotionDSP is at the forefront of video processing technology, continually pushing the boundaries of what's possible in video enhancement, analysis, and redaction.
